Gunman claiming allegiance to ISIS shot dead after killing three, injuring at least 16 at French supermarket

(NY DAILY NEWS) — A gun-wielding Muslim extremist claiming allegiance to ISIS took multiple hostages at a supermarket in southern France Friday, killing at least three people and injuring another 16 before police shot him dead.

The attacker, identified as 26-year-old Redouane Lakdim, holed up at the Super U in Trèbes, a small city near the Pyrenees Mountains, around 11 a.m.

Lakdim screamed “Allahu akbar” — Arabic for “God is great” — and proclaimed himself a “soldier of the Islamic State” as he stormed into the small-town supermarket.

“You are bombing Syria and you are going to die,” the attacker said before opening fire, one witness who escaped told regional newspaper L’Independent.

Around 20 shoppers and staff reportedly escaped from the grocery store after running for their lives, though it was uncertain how many hostages were taken during a standoff with police.

The attacker was killed by officers around 2:30 p.m., authorities said, praising one “gravely wounded” police officer who exchanged himself for a hostage during the chaotic standoff.

“He saved lives,” French President Emmanuel Macron said of the officer.

It was not immediately clear where the three victims were, as beyond those shot in the supermarket, investigators believe Lakdim opened fire on people in the nearby Carcassonne and hijacked a car, killing at least one.

Knifeman shouting ‘Allahu akbar’ slits a woman’s throat and stabs another to death at Marseille station before he is killed by French army

(UK DAILY MAIL) — A man carrying a knife and shouting ‘Allahu akbar’ killed two female passengers before being shot dead by soldiers at train station in the southern French city of Marseille.

The attack at Marseille’s busiest train station took place early this afternoon, as scores of armed police officers and soldiers swarmed the area.

Both victims were women, with one left with a ‘sliced neck’.

Local official Oliver de Mazieres told AFP: ‘Two victims have been stabbed to death.’

The prosecutor for the area Xavier Tarabeux said the knife man was shot by soldiers, while Marseille police urged people in the city to avoid the area around Saint-Charles station.

The prosecutor’s office in Paris said in a statement the probe would focus on ‘killings linked to a terrorist organization’ and the ‘attempted killing of a public official’, two terror-related charges.

Early pictures from the scene showed a woman lying on the ground and armed police standing over a man on the floor.

Third attack in France in two days: Man shouting “Allahu Akbar” attacks two women with a hammer in French town

(ZERO HEDGE) — by Tyler Durden

Two days after a Muslim religious fanatic attacked a family in Toulouse, moments ago two women were among the people injured after a hammer-wielding man assaulted them while screaming “Allahu Akbar” in Chalon-sur-Saone, near Lyon, France, according to media reports. The attacker, wearing all black, is reportedly still on the run.

The first victim was attacked at noon, and the other some 15 minutes later at a nearby location, Le Journal reports.

And, as has so very often been the case in recent weeks, according to a source close to the investigation, preliminary indications are that “the act was carried out by a mentally unstable person,” Le Journal reported. It was unclear if the “mentally unstable person” also had any affiliation to a terrorist organization.

Following the attack, the Police force launched a vast search for the assailant, including a low-flying helicopter.

Two women are reportedly in critical condition after the assault in Chalon-sur-Saône, in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté around lunchtime today. One of the two women is believed to have been hit in the back of the head.

This comes as a knife wielding man attacked a French soldier outside a Metro station in Paris today while praising Allah. The attack in Paris took place at Chatelet metro station at 6.30am this morning, and saw an unnamed assailant attack a soldier with a knife.

The victim managed to wrestle him to the ground and he was arrested by armed police as he shouted ISIS slogans.

The unidentified man is said to have rushed at a patrol of soldiers wearing combat uniforms and brandishing assault rifles. ‘He was restrained, and nobody was injured,’ said a source investigating the case on Friday morning. The man was taken to the main Chatelet police station, and now faces a range of terrorist charges.

It is the latest in a long string of attacks on service personnel involved in Operation Sentinelle – an initiative involving 10,000 soldiers and 4700 gendarmes and police.

The attacks come on the same day as an improvised explosive device blew up on a London subway car, injuring at least 22.

Finland: Knife-wielding attacker ‘shouting Allahu Akbar’ stabs at least eight people leaving two dead

(UK MIRROR) — Two people have been killed and at least eight others hospitalized after a knife-wielding attacker went on the rampage in Finland.

Armed police shot the suspect in the leg after he began stabbing people in the city of Turku just after 4pm (6pm GMT) this afternoon.

As he carried out the terrifying attack, cries of “Allahu Akbar” were apparently heard – although many have argued on social media that the phrase sounds like “beware” in Finnish.

Police said tonight they cannot confirm if the man was shouting in Arabic and confirmed they are not treating the incident as a terror attack.

At least eight people – reportedly including a woman with a pushchair – were hospitalized after the rampage, with two receiving emergency surgery.

The incident, which has sparked terror fears, comes just a day after a white van mowed down crowds of pedestrians in Barcelona, Spain, killing 14 and injuring more than 100 others.

In France, the religious war few wish to face

(GATESTONE INSTITUTE) — The remains of St. Denis, the patron saint of Paris, who was decapitated in the year 250 during the brutal pagan persecution of Christians, lie north of the French capital in the basilica that bears his name.

The church is historically noteworthy as the first proper work of Gothic architecture, a style influenced by the Crusades. The basilica is now a rarely visited Parisian landmark, lying as it does within the profoundly Islamized enclave of Seine-Saint-Denis.

“You Christians, you kill us,” were the words of the ISIS knifeman who slit the throat of 85-year old Father Jacques Hamel. The elderly priest officiating at the altar of the church of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray — a mere three kilometres from the centre of Rouen in Normandy — was slain on July 25, as the two terrorists also took nuns hostage. The terrorists were then shot by police.

On August 5, police swept down on a man shouting “Allahu Akbar” [“Allah is the Greatest”] on the Champs-Élysées, the famous central thoroughfare of the capital of France. Video of the arrest shows passers-by: veiled Muslims, tourists, and presumably indigenous French men and women.

Both of these incidents, when aligned with recent mass outrages across France, including the Bataclan Theatre slaughter on November 13, and the mass carnage caused by a jihadist plot in Nice on July 14, point to a startling reality.

Despite the rhetoric by the government of Prime Minister Manuel Valls on removing dual nationality from those guilty of terrorism offenses and closing extremist mosques (20 of France’s 2,500 alleged mosques have been closed down to date), the violent consequences of jihadism are a daily reality and concern stalking the heart of most French metropolitan districts.

At 7.5% of the population, Muslims in France make up the highest concentration of Muslims of any country in Europe, according to Pew Research.

For decades, those warning of the inevitable consequences of mass Muslim immigration, during a time in history when Islamic fundamentalist doctrine was on the rise worldwide, have been maligned, prosecuted, imprisoned or assassinated.

With the security infrastructure now proving inadequate to cope with the sheer scale of enthusiasm for religious war amongst those Islamists born in France, and those able to enter the country — thanks to the open border policies of the EU — the threat continues to increase day by day.

Videos put critics straight about ‘Obama’s Muslim Gang Sign’ article

A NUMBER OF CRITICS, MOSTLY NOTABLY Snopes.com, have questioned the interpretation of President Obama’s forefinger gesture that he made during the U.S.-African Leaders’ Summit of last August in Washington, D.C. An article that interpreted it as a sign of Obama’s allegiance to Islam, entitled “Obama and the Muslim Gang Sign,” was published by American Thinker on February 18.

Critics reasonably pointed out the gesture could mean anything, and various websites came out with photographs of world leaders, past and present, making a similar use of their finger. They asked, “Are they Muslim too?”

Certainly, the extended forefinger – generally with the thumb hanging loose – can be used for pointing or making a point. It’s an all-purpose gesture. Journalists stick their forefingers in the air all the time at press conferences to draw attention to the fact they have a question. But who is making the gesture? What is the context? Read more »
